Ho recentemente avuto questo scambio di messaggi con David Irving, il controverso storico inglese accusato di negazionismo ed imprigionato in Austria per reati di opinione.Ho pensato che fosse interessante renderlo di pubblico dominio:

What do you think of the "Goering Tunnel" theory about the Reichstag fire? Do you still believe that Goebbels's diary testifies that Hitler was not involved in the action and totally unaware of it until he and Goebbels received that telephone call?

I think that the late Fritz Tobias, a very good German historian, discredited the popular Marxist version of the Reichstag fire, including the Göring tunnel theory. Nice to hear from you...

 Dear Mr. Irving,

I would like to thank you for your suggestion. I found on the web an abstract of Fritz Tobias's research, and I must say that I agree with him that the Goering tunnel theory is ludicrous. I take the opportunity to tell you that, although my political views are miles away from yours, I do appreciate your work on Goebbels’s  diaries. My family has a Jewish origin, my uncle and aunt were shot by the Germans in Italy and my father spent 5 year in an Italian concentration camp. Nevertheless I feel that nobody should be condemned for his/her ideas and I disapproved your detention in Austria. I wish you a successful tour in the Usa, a country that I frankly dislike although some of my relatives found shelter there in 1938.
